Marjorie Cranston is showing her new pastels from the wineries of Napa & Sonoma tonight at Caroline's Cuisine. They're having a wine tasting from 5-7pm - $25 per person for wine & food pairing. Call Caroline's at 627-9404 for reservations.
Our annual show will once again be at the Pole Creek Golf Course. We'll hang the show on Monday, June 27th and the opening is Tuesday, June 28th. It's going up a little earlier than usual to avoid the conflict of having the opening on a Thursday, which is already a busy night for the restaurant. I'm happy to say the show will be up for the whole month of July - we'll take it down August 1st or 2nd. I'll have more details and an application ready soon.

Congratulations, Nancy Goes! You're a "Cover Girl"!
(the following from Nancy...)
"This is the icon that will be on the cover of the Dec. 14 cover of Christian Century Magazine. I'm not sure if it will be alone or shown with other images.
I belong to an international organization, CIVA, Christians in the Visual Arts. This icon is in one of their traveling shows and on their website. People from the magazine saw it on the website and contacted me about using it for a cover." After original contact, I didn't hear from them for over a week and thought they were no longer interested. But, it turned out, "someone" was out of town. "They contacted me on Tues. and all was handled via email very quickly."

Congratulations to Donna Lyons for winning the Artists' Choice Award at the Plein Air Artists of Colorado Taos paintout!
Several artists with connections to Grand County and Art Out of Thin Air went to Taos, NM with PAAC (Plein Air Artists Colorado - www.pleinairartistscolorado.com) last week. Judy Dixon, Julia Grundmeier, Margaret Hanke, Marie Johannes and Donna Lyons painted en plein air in the area surrounding Taos Wednesday, May 12 through Sunday, May 16th. Saturday night of the PAAC trip to Taos last week was Show and Tell night. Artists were given ballots and each voted for their favorite two artists' "body of work". Prize awards were given to seven artists, mostly oil painters. Donna Lyons, Grand Lake, CO, won First Place for her watercolors! She received a Guerrilla Painter Thuimb Box style travel pochade box as the prize for this award. Judy Dixon (Donna's friend from Illinois) and also a watercolorist also received recognition for a painting she did in the "Quick Draw" event Sunday morning. Judy won plein air painting panels.
